Meet Boston | 43 MEET BOSTON INITIATIVES Accessibility In collaboration with renowned and trusted accessibility consultants John Morris and Cory Lee, Meet Boston has developed travel guides and blogs that highlight information and offerings for disabled travelers, and for any visitor who is seeking specific experiences attuned to their needs, whether they be physical, sensory or otherwise. Meet Boston has also partnered with the City of Boston’s Disability Com- mission to promote the Disability Inclusion Trained Business Certifica- tion, which helps businesses to reduce barriers and create more accessible atmospheres. As part of this collabo- ration, Meet Boston leveraged its sig- nature Dine Out Boston program to involve partner restaurants in the city’s Disability Friendly Dining Training. Local sports facilities have worked with KultureCity to create sensory rooms, which are now available at both TD Garden and Gillette Stadium. Museums and attractions feature an array of accessibility amenities and unique programming such as Feeling for Form at the MFA, Boston and Touch Tours at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation's Universal Access Program provides outdoor recreation opportunities in state parks for visitors of all abilities. This includes making improvements to sites and buildings for accessibility, providing specialized recreation equipment for use at beaches and skating rinks and offering year-round adaptive recre- ation programs. Supplier Diversity & Workforce Development Meet Boston, in collaboration with Boston’s tourism and events industry, is dedicated to workforce develop- ment and education, and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion in our procurement processes. To achieve these objectives, we partnered with Conan Harris & Associates on two key initiatives focusing on workforce development and supplier diversity. Supplier Diversity Meet Boston recently launched a new supplier diversity platform to connect their more than 1,000 partners with a diverse range of small businesses and vendors. The Supplier Diversity Initiative aims to expand Meet Boston’s network of industry suppliers to include more Black and brown-owned businesses, as well as companies owned and operated by women, veterans and the LGBTQIA+ community. By diversifying the supplier base, Meet Boston and its partners will drive economic growth for communities that have been traditionally underrep- resented in the travel and hospitality sector. This is central to Meet Boston’s mission to generate more equity and access points across the industry. This new and accessible platform, in partnership with NectariQ, will fully launch in 2026 and feature a database of diverse suppliers, enabling industry partners to act with more intentionali- ty and purpose in their procurement processes. While the supplier diversity platform is only available to Meet Boston partners, complete information about meeting and event suppliers can be found on meetboston.com/suppliers, with search filters that include Business Identity and Amenities. Workforce Development In 2023, P.A.T.H. (Promoting Advance- ment in Tourism & Hospitality) was launched. This innovative workforce development program aims to address the shortage of diverse talent within the tourism and hospitality sec- tor by placing culturally diverse individ- uals in career-building positions. Meet Boston also holds a Regional Career Fair during the month of April. In addition to assisting job seekers in connecting with hospitality industry employers, this annual event also offers professional development workshops, an opportunity to network with industry professionals and free headshots for participants.
